Education- “Our children are our most valuable resource and the future of our state.” As an educator since 1971, Marie is passionate about supporting Utah’s public schools. She was a grassroots participant in defeating the legislature’s risky voucher plan in last year’s election. Marie knows the only way to ensure our children are prepared to meet the challenges of tomorrow is to see that we spend our education dollars wisely-IN THE CLASSROOM.” It is vital that we support local schools with adequate revenue and resources and that we retain quality educators with competitive salaries and benefits.”
Healthcare- After over thirty years of participation in a family run healthcare business, Marie has a unique understanding of healthcare issues. She knows that the accessibility and affordability of quality healthcare is a high priority for Utahns.” We must investigate successful healthcare solutions which are fair to all parties: patients, providers, and employers.”
Economic Development- Marie is aware that a secure economy depends on a thriving business community which provides quality goods, services and high paying jobs. “We must encourage an economic environment that supports both large and small businesses. Also, we must encourage those businesses to adopt effective environmental policies.” Marie supports business-friendly legislation.
Quality of Life- As a resident of a district that includes two beautiful canyons and the area between, Marie believes that a protected, clean environment is vital to our quality of life. “I support legislation that encourages clean air, clean water, access to outdoor recreation, adequate green space, and safe neighborhoods.”
Open, Balanced Government- Marie believes strongly that Utah needs a two-party system where government is open and transparent. “ I will support legislation that encourages campaign finance reform, bans lobbyist’s gifts, and does away with partisan gerrymandering.”
